Time to care

I'd like to celebrate Robin Youngson's book 'TIME TO CARE. How to love your patients and your job'.
I see the thinking behind the book still coming from the 'domination paradigm' we all have been brought up in, at the same time I see it as ground breaking in its strive to describe the reality of many healthcare professionals and offer compassionate alternatives.
I hope that those of you who choose to check the book will find it inspiring.

Here is an excerpt from the first chapter:

The author offers alternatives to the present state of our healthcare based on 'positive psychology', neuroscience and 'appreciative enquiry'. Even though the tools are different from what Authentic Communication offers, they are said to have a similar effect on the health workers: strengthen their hearts, learn the skills of compassionate caring, and rise above the institutional limitations to transform patients' experiences in our hospitals.

To support the world wide effort to re-humanise health care, Robin founded a Hearts in Healthcare - a community established to champion compassionate care.
